Illuminated Shirahige Falls

Although the second illumination event for the Blue Pond has finished, the illumination event for the Shirahige Falls in Biei, Hokkaido is still being held (Dec 4 - March 27, 17:00 - 21:00).

In winter, the trees above the white falls are frozen white and provides a beautiful contrast to the blue Biei River. The fantastical scenery is further enhanced as the illumination patterns change every two minutes!

It is really cold in winter (sometimes dropping below minus 10 degree Celsius) but fret not! Just head to the nearby Shirogane Hot Springs and enjoy the natural heat of the hot spring waters!
