Discover the science of cocktail hour at AIME

The Brisbane Convention Bureau is whipping up a wicked bevy of experimental brews at AIME 2016 to celebrate the inaugural World Science Festival Brisbane.Stand 2418 will turn into the “Brisbane lab” for an hour on Tuesday afternoon, 23 February, as bartender Peter Hollands from Brisbane’s The Gresham Bar – awarded Gourmet Traveller Bar of the Year 2015 – mixes a celestial concoction of cocktails.

The World Science Festival Brisbane will be held in the Queensland capital from 9-13 March. As one of the world’s premier science and arts events, the festival attracts global thought leaders and luminaries such as Brian Greene and Alan Alda.Brisbane Convention Bureau General Manager Rob Nelson said Brisbane was the first city to host the festival outside of New York and it would be staged annually.

“The World Science Festival Brisbane gives science-orientated corporates and associations the perfect opportunity to bring their conferences to the city,” Mr Nelson said.“Conference organisers can immerse their delegates in the World Science Festival Brisbane’s incredible program, leverage its speakers for their events and engage in program collaboration.”The Corporative Research Centres Association and the Australian Science Communicators are the first organisations to align their 2016 annual conferences with the festival.

“Our focus moving forward will be to target events that match our clusters of expertise and inspire similar conferences to make Brisbane their destination of choice around future World Science Festivals Brisbane,” Mr Nelson said.
