Common Threads Wearable Art Showcase 2016 in Mandurah: A Theatrical and Visual Feast

Be dazzled, amused and enthralled as the Common Threads Wearable Art Showcase, held in Mandurah on 7th May 2016, presents the finest wearable art from across Australia and beyond through a highly entertaining stage performance. This full-length theatrical production will delight the audience, presenting spectacular wearable creations alongside professional theatre, dance and song.

Common Threads Wearable Art Competition is part of the annual Stretch Arts Festival which is an annual regional community arts festival held in the coastal city of Mandurah (Western Australia), only 74 km south of Perth. Stretch offers a diverse program of quality performing and visual arts, incorporating performance, workshops, exhibitions and film.

2015 was the first year the Common Threads Wearable Art Competition went global, with international entries received from the USA and New Zealand, as well as local and national submissions.

Common Threads Wearable Art is described as extravagant, revolutionary, provocative works of art on the body. It crosses many disciplines including textile art, sculpture, and construction and involves many skill levels.

The 2016 competition theme of illumination encouraged artists to consider the use of light sources, revelation, spiritual enlightenment and many other interpretations.

One show only! This is the one show this year NOT to miss!
