Athletes Find the Answer in World-Class East Gippsland Adventure Festival

Athletes from across the nation and Internationally will descend on East Gippsland in October to compete in the Australian Adventure Festival, the ultimate event for adventure sports in Australia.

Designed to take advantage of the region's renowned natural assets, the Australian Adventure Festival will challenge athletes with mountain biking, paddling, trail running and adventure racing across distances of up to 100 kilometres through some of East Gippsland's most stunning – and testing – landscapes.

The chairman of East Gippsland Marketing Inc, Richard Rijs, said the festival was the only one of its kind in Australia to provide the best and most challenging events in the competition categories of mountain biking, trail running and kayaking.

“East Gippsland has some of the best natural assets in Australia and is already a popular destination for adventure seekers.”

“We are thrilled to be able to showcase our magical region by hosting this important event.”

The festival, which will be held from October 23 to 25, will include headline events in mountain biking, trail running, paddling and adventure racing.

Most sports will offer an ultra-distance race as well as a more accessible distance, allowing adventurers of all abilities to take part. There also are events for children.

The events include: Mountain biking 100km and 50km; trail running 100km and half marathon; paddling 40km and 14km; two-day multistage and one-day adventure racing challenge; and kids' mountain bike and treasure hunt paddle.

Renowned world champion adventure athlete, Richard Ussher and his wife Elina, also an accomplished adventure athlete, have signed up as ambassadors of the Australian Adventure Festival. Richard and Elina will tackle the two day multi-stage race taking in some of the best assets of the East Gippsland region.
