The Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth 2015 has announced one of the biggest line ups in its 43 year history, at a launch event held at Oxley Lookout in Tamworth last week.
Kicking off on Friday 16 January, 2015, the Festival will host around 800 performers and 4,000 shows across 120 venues, making it the biggest and longest music festival in Australia.
Some of the highlights in 2015 include Kenny Rogers performing as part of his Through the Years World Tour; The Merri Soul Sessions featuring Australian music icon Paul Kelly and guests; gigs by John Williamson, Graeme Connors, Troy Cassar-Daley, Melinda Schneider and many more; and the free opening concert headlined by Kasey Chambers.
The finalists for Australia’s longest running music awards, The Golden Guitars, were also announced at a ceremony at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney on Monday. The Awards will be presented in Tamworth on 24 January.
Country music’s golden girl Kasey Chambers and acclaimed singer/songwriter Luke O’Shea were named in six categories each in the Country Music Awards of Australia, while industry icon John Williamson was named in an impressive five categories, including Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Troy Grant congratulated the finalists.
“These Awards are the grand finale of the Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth, which is recognised world-wide and attracts significant visitation and visitor expenditure to the State,” Mr Grant said.
“The NSW Government is proud to support the Festival through our tourism and major events agency Destination NSW,” he said
