'More than 400 people are taking part in VIP experiences in the second chapter of VisitCanberra's successful Human Brochure advocacy campaign, ' VisitCanberra Director Ian Hill said.
'The Local Humans and their guests will attend a VIP experience and have the rest of the weekend to host their guests and show them their favourite aspects of Canberra and the region.'
Some VIP experiences include:
- An overnight Australian Institute of Sport sports camp where guests will learn what it takes to be an athlete, see professional athletes in action and take part in hands-on experiences.
- A behind-the-scenes visit to the Autolyse kitchen for a sour dough bread and croissant making lesson with the bakery's French pastry chefs followed by breakfast.
- A curator-guided visit to the Australian War Memorial's storage and conservation facility for a glimpse of the vast array of the diverse national collection.
- A guided ride of a section of Canberra's Centenary Trail with inspiring BigFoot Adventures owner and Australian paralympian Michael Milton.
Interstate guests will stay in accommodation provided by Canberra's tourism industry.
The Local Humans campaign is in response to research identifying 34 per cent of interstate domestic visitors come to Canberra to visit their friends and family.
Over the past few months the Local Humans have been exploring their city and creating valuable content about their experiences and sharing it with their networks.
