Bledisloe Cup rivalry is set to take to the Royal Randwick Racecourse this year through the Cup Festival Race Day on Saturday, 9 August. Part of the Bledisloe Cup Festival held in the lead up to the first test match in Sydney, the Australian and New Zealand themed race day will celebrate Trans-Tasman competition and set the scene for the clash at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 16 August.
The Cup Festival Race Day also signals a new joint approach to events and activations between the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) and the Australian Turf Club (ATC), with ticket holders to Sydney’s Bledisloe Cup clash at ANZ Stadium gaining free entry to the Royal Randwick Racecourse.
The partnership will also extend to Australian Rugby's night of nights, the John Eales Medal, in recognition of players and members of the Rugby community that have excelled in 2014. The Royal Randwick will host this prestigious awards ceremony for the first time on Thursday 23 October and the ARU and ATC have agreed to investigate future opportunities beyond 2014.
