The Tour de France may be in full swing but small group adventure tour operator Geckos Adventures have gears set on the Tour de Pho, a brand-new 15 day cycling trip through Vietnam in partnership with Reid Cycles, departing on 22 November 2014.
The epic cycling adventure travels from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi and will cruise through Nha Trang's beaches, Hoi An's lush countryside, Hue's Perfume River and the Red River Delta to Halong Bay. With a total of six days riding through gentle terrain there will be plenty of time to explore the sights, meet smiling locals and get friendly with pho (and other Vietnamese delicacies) along the way.
“The Tour de Pho is not designed for the hard-core lycra-clad cyclist,” says Steve Wroe, Geckos Adventures Product Manager. “If you're the type of person who loves commuting around town, enjoys a recreational ride and has a sense of adventure, then this is the cycling trip for you. An appreciation of pho may also prove beneficial.”
“Taking to two wheels is a brilliant way to see a destination like Vietnam. It's a much more immersive way to travel – ride down back roads that few foreigners have discovered, high five the locals as they run out to say hi and get in touch with daily life in a way you can't experience from a train or bus. The freedom of pedal power is truly rewarding,” says Steve.
For a chance to win return flights and a place on the Tour de Pho, bike lovers need to create a short video (maximum of 30 seconds) showing why they love their bike using Instagram, Vine or YouTube by 28 July 2014. Reid Cycles will be announcing 10 finalists on 31 July and will reveal their next challenge on 1 August. Plus, all entrants have a chance of winning one of five bikes. Head to www.facebook.com/ReidCycles to enter.
The Tour de Pho departs on 22 November 2014 and costs $1186 per person. Bikes and a $100 Reid voucher are included on the tour. For more information, visit www.geckosadventures.com/south-east-asia/vietnam/tour-de-pho-2014
