Port Macquarie’s Tastings on the Hastings has confirmed celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita from SBS television shows ‘My Sri Lanka’, ‘Island Feast’, and ‘Mexican Fiesta’ will join the food and wine festival line-up this October.
Peter’s skills will be on display when a special dinner for 150 guests is held at the Fig Restaurant on Saturday 25 October, featuring a custom-designed menu using local produce. The following day he will host cooking demonstrations in conjunction with local food and wine personalities.
The Festival will celebrate the growing multicultural influences and heritage of people living in the region under the banner ‘Our Story, Our Soul, Our Food’, with the some of the region’s culinary leaders including the Canadian born Lou Perri at The Stunned Mullet restaurant, Barbara Barlin at Barbuschco Bushfoods, and John Cassegrain of French-heritage at Cassegrain Wines lending themselves to the celebration.
Tastings on the Hastings is the region’s largest food and wine festival, and the main event in the town centre on Sunday 26 October will bring together more than 120 producers, wineries, boutique breweries, chefs, restaurants and cafes, who will sell their goods, share stories and provide tastings.
