Merriment and grandiose marked the festive mood on 31st of December as the denizens of the World awaited the advent of the New Year and most cities across the World hosted spectacular events to celebrate the occasion. Magnificent fireworks and grand banquets added fervor to the revelry. Every city in the World that organized brilliant events on New Year’s Eve received huge number of visitors thus aiding to boost tourism across the globe.
It was celebration time in every nook and corner. Amazing fireworks and illumination heightened the grand show in Dubai setting World records. The Dubai skyline was a canvas for a dazzling 30-minute capping off with six minutes of fireworks that engulfed the city’s man-made, palm-shaped island, with its fronds and trunk shimmering in thousands of lights. The spectacle erupted at midnight at the world’s tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa, and moved to the city’s sail-shaped Burj Al-Arab hotel before ending at the Palm.
With fireworks shooting from the top of Auckland’s Sky Tower, 2014 was welcomed in by New Zealanders. In Australia, exploding fireworks sprayed from the sails of the Sydney Opera House and the harbour bridge as the world ushered in a new year. Hong Kong welcomes the New Year with great enthusiasm and merriment. More than 300,000 local residents and tourists gathered at both sides of the Victoria Harbor to celebrate the arrival of 2014. Britain planned to welcome 2014 with a mixture of futuristic fireworks and torch-lit tradition. China planned light shows at part of the Great Wall near Beijing and at the Bund waterfront in Shanghai.
