Sydney is once again set to host the largest rowing event in the country when the 2014 Sydney International Rowing Regatta (SIRR 2014) returns to the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith (SIRC) from Sunday 23 to Sunday 30 March 2014.
The event will feature a number of events including the World Rowing Cup #1.
Minister Souris joined Australia’s World Champion rowers, Kim Crow and Erik Horrie, Men’s Four London 2012 silver medallist, James Chapman, Junior World Champions, Gen Horton and Jess Allen, and John Boultbee, Chairman of SIRR 2014’s organising committee, to announce that event tickets were officially on sale via Ticketek.
“I’m delighted that the 2014 Sydney International Rowing Regatta will return to Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith, an event which will see the World Rowing Cup 1, alongside the domestic events held at a world-class sporting facility,” Mr Souris said.
“The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW helped to secure the Sydney International Rowing Regatta, which is the pinnacle event in Australian Rowing.”
Spectators at the event will be treated to a showcase of some of the best Australian rowing and para-rowing, while also being able to witness a selection of some of the world’s best rowers compete in the first round of the World Rowing Cup that is also a part of the event.
Chair of SIRR 2014, John Boultbee, said: “This is the second year of the Sydney International Rowing Regatta and athletes and spectators from across the country and world will descend upon Sydney for the event, which will certainly provide a wonderful exhibition of some of the best rowing in the world.
“I would recommend people purchase their tickets sooner rather than later to guarantee their place at the regatta and to avoid disappointment.”
