With spring round the corner special trips are being organized for a tour round the Grand Canyon. The owner of the tour association Grand Canyon 123 Keith Kravitz is advising people to book their trips from January as there is expected to be a huge rush of travelers who are already planning their holidays and booking their tours in advance.
The tours that are in high-demand include helicopter, airplane, bus and rafting trips. “Right now, there’s a lot of interest in all of these trips,” noted Kravitz, “with emphasis being placed on helicopter and airplane tours in particular.”
Helicopter tours depart from Las Vegas, NV, and Tusayan, AZ, every day of the week. Vegas helicopters go to the West Rim while those originating from the South Rim cover that segment of the National Park.
Airplane tours also depart from those two locations. Vegas travelers can choose from flights to the West Rim and the South Rim while Tusayan-based visitors can only opt to see the South Rim.
The helicopter ride that’s really getting snatched up by the traveling public is the Vegas flight that goes to the bottom. “This tour’s always been popular,” said Kravitz. “And rightfully so as it’s one-of-a-kind and only available form Las Vegas.”
The airplane tour that’s garnering the most hits is the Las Vegas-South Rim express. “This is by far the most efficient and value-oriented way to do the South Rim,” said Kravitz. “It’s a 60-minute flight and can be upgraded to include a rim-to-rim helicopter ride.”
As for bus tours, Kravitz’ is noticing a spike in Vegas-South Rim coach bookings. “Of all bus tours, this one’s the king,” he noted. “It’s an all-day affair and is one of the most affordable ways to get to the National Park.”
Finally, there are rafting tours, which will be officially running the river the middle of March. “Float and whitewater will be departing daily,” Kravitz noted. “If this year is anything like the last, there’s going to be high-demand for the 1-day float from Tusayan.”
Basic cancellation policies allow travelers to get a 100 percent refund if they contact the operator 24 hours prior to departure. “This is a big deal and only the best companies offer such a policy,” said Kravitz. “The thinking behind this is that it gives you peace of mind as you book ahead of time.”
Pricing at the moment is at the lowest point it’s going to get for the year. “This is still considered the winter season and it’s when operators drop the bottom on rates,” said Kravitz. “This is a boon for savvy travelers booking now because in spring prices will jump in a big way.”
And when it comes to getting a great rate, Kravitz recommends always shopping online. “It’s a fact that prices are cheaper on the Net,” he said. “The key thing is to complete the booking online in order to get the Internet special. Failure to do so could result in getting the more expensive retail price.”
