NSW to host World's Leading Museum Communications Conference

International and Australian museum innovators and communications experts will gather in Sydney from 4-11 November 2014 to attend the world’s leading arts communication conference.

Communicating the Museum will include inspiring keynote speeches, engaging panel discussions and thought-provoking learning sessions from museum experts and high profile leaders in technology, business and branding. The aim is to provide a wider perspective on communications trends in non-arts arenas.

Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Arts, George Souris said: “Presented in partnership with the Powerhouse Museum and supported by the NSW Government, through Destination NSW, Sydney’s conference is the first time Communicating the Museum will take place in the Southern Hemisphere, highlighting our Sate’s position as Australia’s cultural capital and home of the creative industries.

“Communicating the Museum will offer communications professionals from arts organisations across the world a dynamic, one-week conference and events program that will explore communications issues shared by museums globally in the 21st Century.

“The program will showcase NSW’s major museums and art institutions including, the Powerhouse Museum, Art Gallery of NSW, Australian Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney Opera House, and Australian National Maritime Museum.”

As part of the cultural conference, participants will also have access to a week-long program of fringe events in Sydney, including a number of cultural tours and ‘money-can’t-buy’ experiences at leading galleries and cultural institutions.
