Tourism Tropical North Queensland says Cairns has attracted 13 franchise conferences, bringing more than 6,000 delegates to the region and generating an estimated $27 million in economic impact.

The 600-delegate conference combined education and an exhibition with networking across venues including the Cairns Convention Centre, Crystalbrook Flynn, Hemingway's Brewery and The Tanks Art Centre.
A particularly popular feature was a day away from the formal conference program, allowing delegates time to absorb the content while experiencing the destination.
Activities included trips to the Great Barrier Reef, a day excursion to Port Douglas and golf at Yorkey's Knob, demonstrating how a conference program can be complemented by genuine destination experiences.

The 2024 Hungry Jack's National Convention brought around 950 delegates to Cairns, creating a highly visible presence throughout the city. Delegates travelled to offsite events in a custom-branded bus, while the brand extended its presence to the airport and local venues.
Such events demonstrate how Cairns can provide more than a conventional conference venue. The destination itself becomes part of the event experience, creating opportunities for branding, networking and memorable delegate engagement.
