This week an exciting milestone for HX Expeditions was celebrated as they marked 130 years since its first expedition in 1896 – a sail to Svalbard.

Fittingly, the expedition cruise company is launching something extra special for Svalbard journeys as part of this anniversary by launching a new, free Svalbard education course in partnership with the University of Tasmania (UTAS).

The new HX + UTAS Svalbard Course is designed to deepen guests’ understanding of one of the Arctic’s most iconic destinations before they travel. Through a series of expert-led modules, participants will gain insights into Svalbard’s unique wildlife, ecosystems, history and the principles of responsible exploration, helping them arrive better informed and ready to get more from their expedition experience.

This an exciting partnership for an Australian university to be leading the way in globally, as HX looks to educate its travellers as much as it does amaze. It is the perfect incentive to book a unique trip to Svalbard, where the learnings and the experience start before you even step on board the ship.
