2025 Dubai Airshow
The skies above Dubai set a new benchmark for global aviation as the Emirates A350 made its flypast debut at the 2025 Dubai Airshow. In a spectacular opening display, the next-generation aircraft joined the Emirates A380 and Boeing 777 in a powerful aerial formation, marking a defining moment for the airline and the UAE’s aviation story.

A First-Ever Aerial Formation for the Emirates A350

For the first time since entering the Emirates fleet in November 2024, the A350 took to the skies as part of a live aerial formation. Flying alongside the iconic double-deck A380 and the long-haul Boeing 777, the A350 completed Emirates’ full commercial aircraft line-up in flight.

The formation became a standout moment of the 2025 Dubai Airshow, symbolising the airline’s evolution and its continued investment in modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. As the newest member of the fleet, the A350 represented the future of long-haul travel, combining advanced aerodynamics, passenger comfort and sustainability.

A Show of Strength for UAE Aviation

The flypast formed part of a remarkable 60-aircraft aerial display showcasing the UAE’s aviation capabilities. Emirates headlined the commercial aviation segment, followed by other UAE carriers, before military aircraft and helicopters completed the formation.

The Emirates A380 flew at an altitude of 500 feet, followed by the Boeing 777 at 700 feet, with the A350 soaring above at 900 feet. Together, the trio created one of the Dubai Airshow’s most visually striking moments as they passed over the runway at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), delighting thousands of spectators.

All-Emirati Team Behind the Controls

In a powerful demonstration of national expertise, the Emirates flypast was planned and executed by an all-Emirati team. Captain Mubarak Al Mheiri piloted the A380 at the head of the formation, with Captain Ali Almarzooqi commanding the Boeing 777 and Captain Rashed Murshed flying the A350.

Oversight of the commercial aviation showcase was led by Captain Khalid Akram, Deputy Chief Pilot Boeing, who served on the Flight Control Committee. Their leadership underlined the depth of aviation talent within the UAE and Emirates’ commitment to developing local expertise.

Precision Planning Behind the Spectacle

Delivering a flawless aerial display at one of the world’s largest airshows required months of detailed preparation. Planning involved close coordination across the entire aviation ecosystem, including Emirates operational teams, other UAE airlines, the UAE Ministry of Defence, the UAE Military, air traffic controllers and the Dubai Airshow Flying Control Committee.

Both aviation authorities, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and the General Civil Aviation Authority, worked closely with organisers to manage airspace, flight paths, weather conditions and traffic patterns. Every element was meticulously calculated to ensure safety, precision and a seamless performance.
