The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched a groundbreaking AI-driven strategy aimed at elevating the country’s tourism industry and creating a “seamless travel” experience for visitors. Central to this initiative is the Amazing Thailand Travel Guide GPTs, an AI-powered assistant and OpenAI plug-in designed to provide real-time, personalized recommendations for tourists.
By leveraging artificial intelligence, Thailand is targeting tech-savvy travellers and digital nomads who increasingly rely on AI tools for trip planning. The strategy ensures that visitors can access tailored itineraries, discover hidden gems, and receive instant guidance, enhancing convenience and engagement throughout their journey.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT, emphasised that AI adoption would raise Thai tourism to international standards, connecting global travellers with Thai culture, cuisine, and experiences in innovative ways.
Thailand’s diverse destinations, strong IT infrastructure, and service capacity position it as a prime destination for the growing digital nomad community. These travellers increasingly combine work and leisure, embracing the “Everything Traveller” concept, which integrates tourism with lifestyle and technology.
The report also revealed that 68 percent of travellers plan to work during their next trip, highlighting the importance of AI-driven solutions in catering to this emerging demographic. By offering personalized itineraries, real-time travel advice, and seamless digital services, Thailand is setting a new benchmark for modern, tech-friendly tourism.

Promoting Sustainable Tourism and Secondary Destinations
TAT’s AI strategy also focuses on promoting sustainable tourism. By encouraging travel to secondary destinations and local communities, the initiative helps distribute economic benefits more evenly across the country.
