Enjoy these cute chick-shaped "Piyorin" sweets in Nagoya!

Piyorins
The Nagoya Cochin chicken is considered a local specialty of Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, and it has a reputation for being a high-grade meat used in many of the city's local foods.

One of Piyorin's main ingredients is eggs from the Nagoya Cochin, which are used to make the pudding center of the dessert.

Wrapped in custard, it is then sprinkled in crushed-up sponge cake to form the fluffy appearance of a small chick!

One Piyorin takes up to 7 hours to make, and with the sweet's delicate body, there is a well-known "Piyorin Challenge" to see if you can bring home your Piyorin without it falling apart!

Not only is it delicious, but its cute appearance makes it extremely popular among locals and foreigners.

Look out for Piyorins in different seasons, as they are often dressed up with different decorations to suit the occasion!
