Da Nang beat eight rivals, namely Bangkok (Thailand), Beijing, Shanghai, Macau, Hong Kong (China), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Seoul (South Korea) and Singapore to win the award. This is the second time Da Nang has received this prestigious title since 2016.
The prestigious award not only continues to affirm the prestige and reputation of the city, but also makes it included in the list of modern and safe destinations with many international events on the global tourism map.
Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh remarked since Da Nang officially reopened international tourism in March, the city’s tourism industry has flourished with many positive signals.
Specifically, the tourism targets have grown clearly. Many international activities and events have been held in the city during the year, including the Da Nang Hot Air Balloon Festival, the VNG Ironman 70.3 Vietnam triathlon, the Routes Asia, the Enjoy Danang Summer Festival, and the Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival.
"We hope that Da Nang will continue to host many larger-scale international events in the coming time" said Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh.
Also at the awards ceremony, the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort took home four prestigious awards, namely Asia's Leading Luxury Resort 2022, Asia's Leading Green Resort 2022, Asia's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2022, and Viet Nam's Leading Luxury Resort 2022.
The ‘Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination 2022’ award is a great motivation for Da Nang to further promote the images of its tourism to countries around the world, and deserve the title of worth-visiting and worth-living city.
The World Travel Awards was launched in 1993 to acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry. Heralded as the ‘travel industry’s equivalent of the Oscars’ by the Wall Street Journal, the awards are based on votes from the public and travel professionals across the globe.
The World Travel Awards 2022 in the Asia&Oceania region includes the categories of airlines, railways, hotels and resorts, conference venues, travel agencies, tour operators, destinations, attractions, awards for yachts and for cars, and more.
This year, Viet Nam participated in the World Travel Awards 2022 in the destination category with many landmarks such as Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Cuc Phuong National Park, Hoi An, and Moc Chau.
