Not-to-Be-Missed Sydney Sport Events

ICC Men's T20 World Cup | 22 October – 9 November

Warmer days and balmy nights punctuated by the excitement of premier events brings a buzz to the city that's entirely unique. You'll feel the crackle in the air when the ICC Men's T20 World Cup rolls into town. There are seven matches in this hotly contested cricket competition that will be hosted at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground. First up is a classic New Zealand versus Australia match-up, meaning there will be lots of grandstand bantering from fans. As the Aussies are the defending champs, we're confident you'll see the green and gold make a ton of runs.

Looking for a cool space to celebrate or commiserate pre or post a T20 game? Then put Loam, at the newly opened Ace Hotel in Surry Hills on your radar. Enjoy fun dishes like a portobello tonkatsu burger with perfectly executed drinks and cool company.

Aqua Rugby Festival | 10-12 November

Combine rugby, yachts and sunny afternoons by water's edge and you've got a festival that could only happen in Sydney. Aqua Rugby is a relatively new sporting phenomenon held in Manly Cove, where players go full contact mode as they duck and weave across a 30m x 30m pontoon to score a try (by jumping in the ocean). There's plenty of excitement for sports fans as they watch from the shoreline or soak up the water views from the luxury of a private yacht for the afternoon. Ready to refuel? Manly has plenty of sleek bars, elegant restaurants and classic pubs but The Tropic at the Wharf Bar is the top spot to sit and celebrate the Aqua Rugby Festival. After something more intimate but no less cool? Then a session at Italian eatery Belgrave Cartel is for you.

Sydney Super Cup | 17, 20 and 23 November

The inaugural Sydney Super Cup sees English Premier League club Everton clash against Scottish Premier League champions Celtic in an on-field battle of the ages. Ange Postecoglou is the Australian coach of the Celtic team and one of the most decorated Aussie soccer coaches in history. Will he lead the Celtics to victory, or will Everton seal the deal? All will be revealed in this nail-biting match between world class teams - it's an evenly matched game that could go either way and part of a blockbuster series that will see Everton take on Western Sydney Wanderers on November 20 at the CommBank Stadium and Celtic take on Sydney FC at the newly opened Allianz Stadium on November 23. Salute the day and toast to the evening at the nearby Ruse Bar and Brasserie.
