Have you ever seen rice paddy art?

Each year from June to mid-October in the quiet village of Inakadate in Aomori Prefecture, vast rice fields are transformed into fascinating art pieces.

This yearly tradition has been occurring since 1993 and uses various coloured rice plants as 'paint'. Head to the observation platform to get the best view! You can also experience rice planting in early June, or rice harvesting in late September (prior registration required).
