Customs, habits and festivities, which are potential unique tourism resources, in combination with Ngoc Linh ginseng are expected to be typical in Quang Nam and attractive to visitors.
Ngoc Linh ginseng had been used as a medicinal herb by ethnic minorities, especially Xe Dang people, before it was studied and its precious ingredients were discovered.
It is reported that the first ginseng plants were found at an altitude of 1,800 metres above sea level in the west of Ngoc Linh mountain on March 19th, 1973.
Then, Ngoc Linh mountain was determined as home to the precious species of ginseng.
Particularly, the custom of worshiping God of ginseng is annually held by the locals.
The stories about Ngoc Linh ginseng collected in combination with the local typical features of culture are expected to become an attractive tourism product in Quang Nam.
Currently, the main purpose of visitors to Nam Tra My district is buying Ngoc Linh ginseng.
Some travel agencies have also carried visitors to this area and most of them are the one-day tours. However, some local households have recently provided accommodation services.
Hopefully, there will be more and more visitors to the Ngoc Linh ginseng area in Tra Linh commune of Nam Tra My district.
