On day 1 & 2 of the Mekong Tourism Stakeholder Engagement trip to Chiang Mai, we visited and inspected Experience Mekong Collection small businesses, including Monsoon Tea and Wild Nature Artisan – An Edible Memoir of Chiang Mai.
On day 3 of the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office Stakeholder Engagement trip to Chiang Mai, we visited another Experience Mekong Collection member Elephant Poopoopaper Park, an innovative business that created lots of impact on the environment and the local community.
Day 4 Morning of our Mekong Tourism Stakeholder Meetings, we visited Experience Mekong Collection small businesses and social enterprises; Siamaya Chocolate is a social enterprise making quality chocolate, buying cacao from local farmers. In the afternoon, we met with Chai Lai Orchid Eco Resort & Elephant Experience, 90 minutes drive from town, a peaceful oasis with freely roaming elephants. In the evening, we dropped off at Craft & Care is a new social enterprise by 2020 Mekong Heroes recipient Potjana Suansri. It was such great learning about the health benefits of herbal drinks.
On our last day, we visited another inspiring small business and social enterprise, Thai Tribal Crafts Fair Trade, a social enterprise established in 1973. Great meeting with Managing Director Elias from Myanmar to discuss collaboration.
Overall, it was a successful Mekong Tourism Stakeholder Engagement trip to Chiang Mai, visiting inspiring social enterprises as part of the Experience Mekong Collection. Working on our new and exciting “Made in Mekong” initiative, by Destination Mekong. Stay tuned!
