Kuala Lumpur is renowned for its Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower and huge shopping malls, however, sitting right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the concrete city is the tiniest and oldest natural forest reserve of Malaysia.
The KL Forest Eco Park (formerly known as the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve) was gazetted as a forest reserve in 1906 in Malaysia. Originally home of the Malayan tigers and elephants, this jungle is still home to monkeys, pythons, squirrels, and monitor lizards. Situated near the forest is one of the city's skyline icons, the Menara Kuala Lumpur Tower, which was constructed with utmost attention being paid to the environment to ensure that the natural surroundings of KL Forest Eco Park remain undisturbed.
Some of the best free activities, one can experience at the park such as follows:
• Canopy Walk, 200m walk with aerial views of the treetops and the city beyond.
• Small Hikes and nature trails such as Jelutong, Penarahan and Arboretum Trail
• Herbal Garden
• Timber Product Gallery
• Information Centre
