The countdown is on as the region’s largest gathering of buyers and exhibitors in the meetings and events industry gets set to take over Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC).
From 17 – 19 February, MCEC will again be the host venue for the Asia Pacific Incentives Meetings Event (AIME), as well as showcasing as an exhibitor within the Melbourne Stand.
MCEC Director of Sales, Darren Waite said he was excited to again partner with Talk2 Media & Events to deliver this leading industry event.
“This flagship event brings destinations and their offerings together with the movers and shakers in the meetings and incentives business and MCEC is keen to show everyone exactly what it is capable of,” Mr Waite said.
Sustainable vision
Sustainability is set to be a major focus for AIME, and MCEC is pleased to partner with Harry the Hirer to showcase some of the latest innovations in environmentally friendly stand construction with an innovative sustainable retail outlet in operation at the event.
MCEC has introduced a new dedicated Sustainability Manager position, with Samantha (Sam) Ferrier recently appointed to the role, to ensure MCEC continues to be an industry leader in sustainable business practices.
Sam will be available at the Sustainability Hub during AIME, and attendees are invited to drop by and discuss how all areas of the industry can work together to deliver truly sustainable events.
“Sustainability is something that MCEC takes seriously, and we have developed a range of options that can be adapted for any event, to help minimise their environmental footprint,” Mr Waite said.
“We are here to inspire our customers and work with them to help create greener events and make sustainability less overwhelming for them.”
Golden opportunity
Mr Waite said the MCEC team was looking forward to welcoming buyers and exhibitors to its stand, located at MEL 1&2 on the Melbourne Stand.
“You won’t be able to miss it – look for the big gold roof,” Mr Waite said.
The 45sqm stand features four meeting areas as well as a ‘Make It. Sip It. Snap It.’ activation area, where visitors will be able to take a bite of summer and build their own tart using fresh locally sourced berries and seasonal stone fruits.
And if you’re making new friends or simply catching up with old, you can capture the moment at MCEC’s colourful and zero-waste streamer selfie wall.
AIME Networking Event – Garden Gathering
MCEC will be the naming rights sponsor and host venue for the evening networking event with the AIME Garden Gathering, on Tuesday 18 February.
AIME’s annual industry networking night will see MCEC’s foyer and courtyard area transformed into a garden oasis, complete with palm trees, an interactive strawberry patch, and a selection of botanical-inspired cocktails.
“At AIME this year we really want buyers to see how MCEC is Melbourne’s destination for big ideas and inspirational events,” Mr Waite said.
“It is really exciting for us to be able to showcase all that we have to offer to the people who make the decisions when it comes to conference and event planning.”
AIME is held at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 17- 19 February 2020.
