U Ohn Maung |
The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism and private-sector associations have been making all-out efforts for the development of Myanmar’s tourism industry. We have been
- taking part in international and regional tourism shows,
- hosting travel exhibitions, co-operating with International bodies,
- assigning tourism ambassadors,
- distributing leaflets and promotional videos,
- arranging familiarization trips well known international media groups, and
- developing digital marketing systems for tourism sector development.
I know the importance of having communities’ involvement in our tourism efforts. So, I encourage the private sector, regional and state governments, and local communities to embrace and develop Community-Based tourism.
We will carry on our endeavour and, in particular, in 2020 will
- develop our tourism Master Plan 2020 - 2030,
- make visa relaxations to some European countries that are friendly with us,
- create more training programs for capacity building, and
- promote sports and gastronomy tourism for new markets.
Sustainability is key to the future of tourism in Myanmar.
