2019 in Reflection

While each year is different and comes with its own set of challenges and victories, 2019 marked a number of exciting milestones for the small team at doq®.

Most importantly, these achievements wouldn’t have been possible without you – the clients that trust us to develop fresh ideas, and our industry vendors that bring them to life. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with you.

Please take a moment to join us in reflecting upon 2019…

JAN - New Year, New Office
To accommodate our growing team, the year started with a transition to a larger office in Jones Bay Wharf, Pyrmont. This continues to reflect our core mission as a docking hub connecting the culture and ideas of Japan and Australia. Japan’s leading stationery and office furniture supplier, KOKUYO, designed and furnished the new space with the aim of stimulating our creativity and productivity.

FEB - Native Japanese Means Native Content – Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards
In collaboration with Japan National Tourism Organization and VICE Australia, project 'Flavours of Tohoku' showcased the delights of the Tohoku region in northern Japan. The authentic content that was developed resulted in a shortlisting for 'Best Use of Native or Content Marketing’ in the Mumbrella Travel Marketing Awards!

JUN - 10 years of Connecting Australia and Japan
2019 marks doq®’s 10-year anniversary and was celebrated in June with a ‘Better Together’ theme to acknowledge our clients and industry partners. From an onsite sushi chef preparing original “doq” rolls, ikebana fusion and a bilingual Rakugo performance, the celebration captured our multicultural ethos.

SEP - Silver in Sydney Design Awards for doq 89
The lower level of our new office, doq 89, is a co-working space that stimulates creativity, connections and flexibility. This multifunctional space was recognised by the Sydney Design Awards, awarded with Silver in the Interior Design – Co-Working & Studio Space category. Collaborating with KOKUYO has allowed us to establish an innovative space that captures doq®’s cross cultural principals while maintaining aesthetic presentation and functionality.
OCT - Premier’s NSW Export Awards and Ethnic Business Awards
doq® was listed as a finalist in the Professional Services category of the NSW Export Awards, highlighting our success in exporting marketing solutions to the Asia Pacific region.
In the same month, Founder and Group Managing Director, Yoshinori Sakuno, was one of four finalists in the Small Business Category of the Ethnic Business Awards, recognising his valuable contribution to the diverse, Australian business landscape.

Stay tuned for 2020!

We are preparing to take on some new challenges, and to deliver our best for you.

A BIG THANKYOU from the team at doq® and best wishes over the festive season!
