Tamworth Area - Adventure and Outdoor

The Tamworth region gives you the opportunity to choose your own adventure, whether it be paragliding, horseriding, canoeing or rock climbing. The area’s two stunning national parks, Warrabah National Park and Mount Kaputar National Park, are ideal for an adventurous day trip. The rugged escarpment of Mount Kaputar boasts spectacular scenery, and is perfect for bushwalking, and you can fish, swim, kayak and canoe at Warrabah, one of the few inland river national parks in the state.

Adventures in the Tamworth Region

Set on 1,400 acres, Kootingal Horse Riding Adventures take you on a scenic journey through the mountains. These 2.5 hour trail rides meander through spectacular scenery, and are suitable for all levels from beginners to advanced.

Manilla Paragliding is the only world class flying site in Australia, and it's one of the best places to learn to fly.

At the end of a week-long course, you’ll have your paragliding licence and be ready to soar above the clouds. The course includes a tandem flight to get you comfortable up in the air. Manilla Paragliding is a Hang Gliding Federation of Australia Approved (HGFA) Flight Training Facility.

North of Tamworth is Warrabah National Park, a tranquil national park split by the stunning Namoi River. Massive granite boulders are set above the valley’s tranquil pools where you can fish, swim or picnic. Sections of the river offer challenging rapids, which are perfect for canoeing adventures.

For a self-contained weekend escape in the peaceful and idyllic wilderness of Warrabah National Park head to Muluerindie. This charming hand-built stone hut has been lavishly restored to its former glory, featuring natural granite walls, an open fireplace and a wonderful timber decking overlooking the beautiful Namoi River.

Muluerindie is the perfect place to either relax or explore the park, including the nearby fishing holes and spectacular boulders.

Also North of Tamworth is Mount Kaputar National Park, known for its rugged and beautiful scenery. A walk along Myall Creek is a must, and in spring the park is resplendent with wildflowers.
