NZ Voted Top Country In The World – For The Fourth Time In A Row

New Zealand has been named ‘favourite country’ for the fourth year in a row in the UK’s top travel awards.

More than 75,000 readers of the Daily and Sunday Telegraph voted in the annual Telegraph Travel Readers’ Awards which involve the most comprehensive, wide ranging and reliable travel survey in Britain.

Charles Starmer-Smith, Head of Travel, Telegraph Group, said: “It is a tribute to New Zealand’s cultural quality, sense of adventure and beauty that it has been voted favourite country four years running.”

Kevin Bowler, Chief Executive Tourism New Zealand, added: “This award is a real honour to receive and a tribute to the work done by all of those in the New Zealand community. It’s great to know that, even though there are so many wonderful countries to visit around the globe, New Zealand still ranks as number one.

“On behalf of everyone at Tourism New Zealand, I’d like to thank not just the Telegraph readership but also our trade and other partners for the huge support they give in showcasing the best that the country has to offer.”

As well as top country, the awards highlight the best city, hotel group, cruiseline, short-haul and long-haul airline in the world. New Zealand beat off stiff competition from the Maldives and South Africa to take the top spot.
