Belmond announces expert-led journeys on the rivers of Myanmar with special guest speakers throughout 2016. From a complete immersion into Burmese language and culture to world military history, photography led tours and a yoga retreat – Belmond’s experts lead the way to discovering more on board Belmond Orcaella and Belmond Road to Mandalay.

Justin Watkins, Professor of Burmese at SOAS University of London, hosts the first cruise aboard Belmond Orcaella on 16 August. The 12 night journey along the Chindwin takes guests to lesser explored parts of Myanmar reaching the foothills of the Himalayas. As Belmond Orcaella meanders along the river, Professor Watkins will host lectures and lessons on the languages of the area.

For a complete retreat of body and mind, yoga guru to the stars, Nadia Narain will take guests on a yoga and meditation journey along the Ayeyarwady river on board Belmond Road to Mandalay on 24th and 27th August. Nadia teaches to everyone from complete beginners to professional athletes, adopting the practice to the individual’s needs and ability.

Retired British Army Officer, General Sir Mike Jackson will also be travelling on board Belmond Road to Mandalay on 24th and 27th August, offering his insights into some of the most important British Military events in recent history. General Sir Jackson’s illustrious career spanned almost 45 years taking him from the Arctic to the jungle and culminating in his appointment as Head of the British Army in 2003.

Aspiring photographers can join award-winning photographer, Sue Flood, on board Belmond Road to Mandalay on 8th and 12th October. Sue will teach guests how to capture the perfect image with professional insights and personal tuition whether using smart phones or high-tech cameras and equipment.
