More than 2000 athletes from Australia and across the world will descend on Port Macquarie on Sunday 1 May to compete in IRONMAN Australia.
NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, was proud to be supporting IRONMAN Australia.
“This year, the IRONMAN 70.3 Port Macquarie event will be held in conjunction with IRONMAN Australia, providing competitors with an amazing new festival atmosphere and a great opportunity to further showcase the beautiful north coast of NSW,” Mr Ayres said.
Managing Director of IRONMAN Asia Geoff Meyer said he was excited about bringing the two historic events together.
“As the fourth oldest IRONMAN event in the world, IRONMAN Australia has an atmosphere all of its own and the addition of IRONMAN 70.3 Port Macquarie on the same date is one that will create an amazing race day experience for our athletes and their family and friends,” Mr Meyer said.
Athletes will complete in a 1.9 kilometre swim, 90 kilometre bike and 21.1 kilometre run.
IRONMAN 70.3 Port Macquarie remains one of the Asia-Pacific region's leading, and most enduring, triathlon events.
The weekend long activities include the popular IronKids event on Saturday 30 April, for kids aged 7-13 years, and the Port Iron 5km Fun Run. There is something for everyone.
Those visiting Port Macquarie can explore the town’s cafes and restaurants and the area’s beautiful beaches, national parks and reserves.
