Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) triumphed last night at the 2015 Meetings and Events Australia (MEA) National Industry Awards, winning three prestigious titles and a spot in MEA’s exclusive Hall of Fame.
The venue was announced as the overall national winner in the categories of: Meeting Venue 500 Delegates or More, Cause Related Event of the Year and In-House AV Services. MCEC’s Operations Manager, Libby Buick was also recognised as a finalist for Operations Person of the Year.
It was a crowning moment for MCEC’s Technology Services team, who collected the national In-House AV Services award for a third consecutive year and were inducted into MEA’s Hall of Fame for ongoing excellence.
MCEC’s Chief Executive, Peter King praised the venue’s passionate and dedicated team, who work hard every day to deliver outstanding meetings and events.
“I am incredibly proud and congratulate all of our employees on their hard work and contribution in achieving these accolades – it truly is a team effort!
“It’s great to see our talented technology team recognised for their outstanding work and ability to bring any event to life. Their creative vision and execution is second to none,” Mr King said.
This week, MCEC was the host venue of the 2016 MEA National Conference, titled 'Break Conventions.'
MCEC Director of Customer Experience and Optimisation and MEA Vice Chair, Anne Jamieson said coming together to share information and network is the key to creating new business opportunities and growing as an industry.
“It’s been an absolute pleasure to host our industry colleagues, both at our venue and across Melbourne, and to celebrate the best of the Australian business events industry at the MEA National Awards,” Ms Jamieson said.
MEA awards are assessed across a range of business criteria and the year in review, including financial information, business activities, challenges and holistic impacts on the meetings and events industry.
