DAVID CAMPBELL TO STAR IN DREAM LOVER MUSICAL

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres joined Destination NSW CEO Sandra Chipchase, director Simon Phillips (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert – The Musical) and producer John Frost this week to announce the lead cast for the world premiere of Dream Lover – The Bobby Darin Musical.

Australian singer, stage performer and TV presenter David Campbell will play famed entertainer Bobby Darin alongside Hannah Fredericksen as Sandra Dee, Darin’s movie star wife.

With hit songs from the 1960s including Mack the Knife, Splish Splash and Dream Lover, the sensational musical about the life of legendary American singer, songwriter and actor Bobby Darin, is set to provide viewers with an unforgettable performance.

Minister Ayres said the musical had been secured by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.

“Sydney is the home of first-run musicals in Australia and we are incredibly proud to have secured not only an Australian-first, but the world premiere of Dream Lover – The Bobby Darin Musical.

“This exciting production will bring Bobby Darin’s extensive songbook to life for a new generation of audiences and we expect almost 30,000 overnight visitors will travel to Sydney to see this production, delivering over $7 million in visitor expenditure for NSW,” Mr Ayres said.

Dream Lover – The Bobby Darin Musical will be staged at the Sydney Lyric Theatre in September 2016 for a 10-week run. Tickets are available at http://dreamlover.com.au/
