Japan’s Hello Kitty train brightens tourists’ travelling experience

Seibu Railway Company in Japan have come to the rescue of bored travellers journeying in and around Tokyo or Saitama, with their new Hello Kitty themed train!

The Hello Kitty train which was launched last month, will be running until 27th March 2016, and will take passengers from Ikebukuro in Tokyo through to stations in Chichibu in neighbouring Saitama prefecture.

Passengers travelling with (or without!) kids on this journey can take part in the Chichibu Stamp Rally – which encourages visitors to stop off and collect stamps from various sight-seeing locations en route. Collect four stamps and receive a limited edition ‘Hello Kitty meets Chichibu’ badge!

Chichibu’s attractions make it an enticing day trip option for tourists wanting to explore beyond the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Visit ancient Chichibu shrine, which hosts the famous Chichibu Yomatsuri – one of the top three night festivals in Japan. You can also visit Hitsujiyama Park, where the dazzling shades of pink and white flowers bloom from late April to early May.

Alternatively, take a traditional boat ride down the Arakawa River in Nagatoro, or go for the thrill-seeking option and raft downstream!

Visitors to Tokorozawa Station or Chichibu Shrine will be able to take and print out their own Hello Kitty themed photos to commemorate the visit at the dedicated photo booths. Get yourself topped off with a Hello Kitty hat or bow and send the pictures back to friends and family at home!
