Vanessa Inkamala Paintings

Vanessa Inkamala Painting
Vanessa has been commissioned to paint a series of urns to be placed in the newly constructed reception for Lasseters Centre of Entertainment. These four large urns will be prominently displayed in the foyer and accompany her other artworks which adorn the Hotel rooms as part of the Lasseters Collection.

This talented indigenous artist was born in 1968 at Hermannsburg, a mission established by German Lutheran missionaries. Her mother was a traditional Western Desert “Dot” artist while her father exposed the “water colour” method which was taught at the mission.

When she married Fabien, an Eastern Arunda man she moved to St Theresa (80km south west of Alice Springs) during her time there she became heavily influenced by their distinctive murals which caused Vanessa to begin to develop her own particular style that carries all her life influences.

Vanessa has been painting since she was 13 and she often collaborates with her younger brother “who is a watercolour man like my father”. Vanessa also enjoys displaying her works besides her three sister in laws that have all been taught the style that is specific to Santa Theresa.

Her inspiration often comes from “Visions and Dreams” and she finds painting puts her in a happy place especially when she works with her family admiring all the different styles that these desert regions are producing.
