The Langham, Melbourne's Melba restaurant was named Deluxe Restaurant of the Year. The Langham, Melbourne's Aria Bar & Lounge was named Bar of the Year for the second consecutive year. Aria Bar & Lounge is known equally for its series of Afternoon Teas including Classic Tiffin Afternoon Tea and decadent Chocolate Bar as well as being an intimate and inviting cocktail lounge at night.
In addition to these Specialty Category Winners, two of The Langham, Melbourne's long-serving employees were named Individual Excellence Winners in their respective fields. The hotel's Assistant Financial Controller, Glen Ferguson was named Administration Employee of the Year while Martin Fearn, the hotel's Restaurant & Outlet Manager, responsible for both Melba and Aria Bar & Lounge, won the award for Food & Beverage Services Employee of the Year.
It's a fitting tribute for Martin as he has worked at The Langham, Melbourne for over two decades in various roles from purchasing to human resources and food & beverage. “Starting as a steward in the 1990s, Martin is an excellent example of how you can carve out a rewarding career in hospitality,” comments Ben Sington.
“We're immensely proud of these achievements and congratulate all of our team as well as the industry for its consistent hard work, innovation and dedication to service. This year we celebrate our tenth anniversary of The Langham, Melbourne and indeed it's also the 150th Anniversary of The Langham, London, so we are looking forward to what appears to be a triple celebration,” adds Sington.
