LONG WEEKEND EVENTS IN NSW

The end of autumn is a beautiful season to visit the Southern Highlands and, over the June long weekend, Flavours of the South celebrates the fine food and wine of the region with a free concert, Music in the Vines, at Joadja Vineyards Berrima.

There’s everything from the Lisun Mushroom Tunnel Tours, sherry and whiskey tastings, locally- made artisan breads, the Moss Vale Farmers and Collectables Market, wine and truffles.

Meanwhile in pretty Merriwa in the Upper Hunter, watch out for 120 sheep wearing red woollen socks as they lead a procession down the main street during the Festival of the Fleeces.

Over two days on the June long weekend, the town will celebrate its woolly connections with a quilt exhibit, fashion parade, wool spinning, sheep shearing and much more.
