8 Good Excuses for a Long Lunch in the Adelaide Hills

This Winter, thanks to eight of Adelaide Hills' finest eateries, lunch just got a little bit longer and little more luxe.

Renowned foodie & My Kitchen Rules champion Bree May has joined with the Hills gourmet venues to spearhead a season-long campaign to inspire all to sip, sup & savour the joys of dining in the Hills, with special lunch menus and even a social media photo competition to help make the delicious fun last well past the dessert & cheese.

“Winter for me is a time for rugging up then heading out somewhere cosy for an indulgent meal and a nice bottle of red with your favourite people,” she said. “Here in Adelaide we are so lucky to have world-class gourmet food and wine on our doorsteps, with incredible local produce, and the passionate and talented restaurateurs and chefs who champion that.”

The eight restaurants, which include Pike & Joyce, Locavore, Maximilian's, & Hahndorf's The Haus, were inspired by SATC's evocative new “Land of the Long Lunch” campaign to create an ensemble of unique ways for food-lovers to enjoy the long lunch of their choice.

“From great grills to perfect pastry, between all these great cuisines we've got it all covered” said Bree. “Each of these chefs are truly connected to the origins of their produce, and have taken such care in creating individual menus reflecting their joy in South Australia's true food excellence”.

Bree invites all fine food lovers to join her on a journey of discovery, right on the culinary doorstep of the city, as she steps out for some fine lunches of her own over Winter. She'll also be sharing her favourite experiences online at foodaccordingtobree.com and #landofthelonglunch, and she invites other diners at participating eateries to do the same to win a unique gourmet experience.

“The food lover who shares with us the most delicious and creative photo of the season will get the chance to indulge in what we think is absolutely, the 'Ultimate Long Lunch'” said Bree, who will host one lucky winner and their friends on a luxury tour of a selection of participating gourmet venues to cap off the gourmet winter campaign.

And with the first of these very special restaurants just 8 minutes up from the tollgate, what's not to love about Winter in Adelaide, at a table laden with South Australia's best produce, surrounded by friends?
