Tamil Nadu made a record in outbound tourism in 2013 by flocking to neighboring state Kerala. Tamil Nadu has been market as second highest among the domestic travelers in Kerala. The maximum tourists recorded were from Maharashtra followed by Tamil Nadu, according to statistics provided by the Kerala tourism.
Kerala received Rs. 21,000 crore as revenue from tourism in 2012. The tourism board of Kerala saw a seven percent increases last year. The state has taken initiatives to boost tourism flow by starting campaigns like the ‘Kerala Blog Express’. The bloggers from all over the world will be encouraged to write their experiences about Tamil Nadu.
A few bloggers will be shortlisted from the submitted profiles and the profile that draws the maximum votes will be given a free two week trip around Kerala.
The ancient spice route linking will be revived in a major initiative which is being called the ‘Spice Route Project’. The project will link 31 countries and aim to attract foreign tourists. The concept of the spice route was presented at the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) by the officials and was extended complete support by the organisations.
