Berlin gears up for 64th Berlin International Film Festival

Everything in Berlin will be centred around cinema as the German capital hosts the 64th Berlin International Film Festival, or Berlinale for short from 6 to 16 February 2014.

The festival is regarded as one of the most important for the international film industry and is the world’s largest film festival that is open to the public.

Around 400 films are shown each year as part of the public programme, many of them European or world premieres. This year George Clooney’s new film The Monuments Men is among those having their world premiere at the Berlinale.

Parts of the film were shot at the Babelsberg studios in Potsdam, in Berlin and in the Harz mountains, mostly around Goslar.
