That’s the address needed to inspect the luxurious vessels that will be among THE highlights of the 2013 Sydney International Boat Show as it swings into action over five exciting days, August 1-5.This will mark the 25th occasion the Australian boating industry has unveiled its finest products to boating and outdoors enthusiasts from across Australia and an admiring world.
As has been well documented, the world-renowned exhibition is now facing a major change with plans revealed for a massive re-development of the popular site.
Show visitors for the next three years will find the Sydney International Boat Show being staged across two locations; a purpose-built, temporary facility at Glebe Island will house the exhibits previously displayed within the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre and the floating marina in Cockle Bay, always a major component of the show which stays in its present location on the calm waters of Cockle Bay.
The NSW Government has announced that Darling Harbour will be redeveloped during 2014, 2015 & 2016 to include a revitalised and modernised exhibition centre, ensuring that Sydney and the exhibition facilities in Darling Harbour remain up there with the best in the world.
The Boat Show will return fully to Darling Harbour and the fantastic new facility in 2017, coinciding with our planned celebrations for the Show’s 50th event.
The show organisers are excited that Sydney Exhibition Centre at Glebe Island will become their home for the undercover exhibits whilst the Darling Harbour facility is redeveloped. The purpose built interim facilities at Glebe Island will provide the show with a great venue to continue showcasing the Show’s undercover displays.
Access between Glebe Island and the marina in Cockle Bay will be easy with complimentary transport provided between the two locations by both road and water. It will be lots of fun. Visitors will be treated to a new boating festival atmosphere and we assure you the entire family will enjoy the experience.
Owned and organised by the Boating Industry Association of NSW (BIA), the Sydney International Boat Show has become a standout event on the Australian events calendar, attracting thousands of admirers from all parts of the nation.
Its international importance can be seen in the many visitors and exhibitors from across the world, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, South Africa, China, Singapore and Taiwan.
The spectacular floating marina has always been a major drawcard at the Sydney International Boat Show and even though the BIA’s Marketing and Event Manager, Domenic Genua, admits that 90 percent of vessels sold are less than 7.0-metres (22’), the larger craft, many retailing at million dollar (and multi-million dollar!) levels thrill show visitors.
This year, the ‘dream machines’ will be out in force with the finest creations from Australian manufacturers such as Maritimo, Riviera and Caribbean jousting for attention with the glamorous imports like Chris Craft and Sunseeker.
For industry legend Bill Barry-Cotter, the man behind Mariner Cruisers, Riviera Marine and now Maritimo, this year’s show becomes the 10th anniversary of the Maritimo marque. New models on show from the company’s innovative headquarters include the vessel described by the company, as “a real head tuner” is the Maritimo M58. It has been honoured by the United States publication Power and Motoryacht Magazine as its ‘Editor’s Choice’ as best motor yacht in the 50-60-feet range (15.24-metres to 18.28-metres).
Maritimo will also display the very stylish M50, which is in fact an updated version of the most successful vessel ever produced by the company, the Maritimo 48.
Riviera, the company established by Bill Barry-Cotter and which he sold just over 10-years ago, will stage its usual impressive line up of flying bridge and sleek sport yachts.
Sydney dealership, Premier Marine, already well-known as the distributor of the famous US marques Chris-Craft and Regal will also have the fabulous German Frauscher that will certainly turn heads.
The Ausail Marine Group, perhaps better known for its distribution of the US-built Catalina Yachts, will introduce another European beauty. This year, Ausail will present the very smart Sessa C38 from a respected, family-owned Italian yard. Although it could be described as ‘a compact’ compared to many of the larger vessels on the marina, the Sessa C38 will impress with its optimisation of space on board. It stretches the tape out to just 38’4” (11.70-metres) yet still manages to offer two double staterooms and a bathroom of impressive dimensions.The Sessa C38 also boasted two galleys, one below in the main cabin area and another topsides in the cockpit for when skipper and crew dine al fresco.
Needless to say, the aforementioned craft comprise just a small sample of what visitors can expect from the 2013 Sydney International Boat Show.
The show will be open for business from 10am to 8pm daily in the six halls of the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre and from 10am to 6pm on the Cockle Bay Marina.
