More than 3,000 Chinese delegates from leading health and personal care direct selling company, Perfect China will descend on Sydney this week for their annual Leadership Seminar, to motivate and reward high performing staff.
The event, secured by Business Events Sydney in partnership with Destination NSW, is expected to inject A$21 million in to the New South Wales’s economy.
Proving Sydney is still a firm favourite for large corporate and incentive programs from the fast-growing China tourism market, the Perfect China Leadership Seminar will reward high-achieving members of Perfect China’s sales force with iconic Sydney activities, to capitalise on the aspirational nature of the harbour city and its surrounds.
One of the highlights of the Perfect China visit program will be scaling the heights of the Sydney Harbour Bridge with BridgeClimb to take in the sights of the city and harbour. This will be the largest group to ever climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Speaking about the choice of destination for the corporate incentive Perfect China’s Chariman Mr Koo commented, “We really liked the idea of literally sending our high-achievers to new heights by climbing a true Sydney icon.
In addition to a record-breaking BridgeClimb, the group will take in Sydney’s famous Opera House, magnificent harbour and winter sunshine on board a Captain Cook Cruise. They will also enjoy a quintessentially Australian rural and outback experience at
Tobruk Sheep Station, set on the Hawkesbury River, 70 minutes from Sydney CBD. The delegates will watch Aussie stockmen ride on horseback, working with sheepdogs to round the sheep in to yards.
“Sydney and Regional NSW offered huge scope for our delegates to experience unique activities that will make them feel appreciated and celebrated. From spending time in the city centre, climbing the Bridge and a host of optional activities to suit just about everyone’s tastes, to shearing sheep and cooking traditional billy tea at Tobruk – all culminating in a gala dinner spectacular – our staff will feel like stars,” Mr Koo commented.
Commenting on the visit, Destination NSW CEO, Sandra Chipchase, said, “We were delighted to assist Business Events Sydney with this bid. Sydney and Regional NSW are the ideal incentive travel destinations.
“Welcoming Perfect China to our shores is a fantastic example of the opportunities that the Chinese business event market offers our visitor economy. Through working strategically with Business Events Sydney, we will look to grow the number of these high-yielding events we attract – hopefully, on a repeat basis – to Sydney and the diverse NSW regions.”
China is Australia’s third largest market for business events with close to 65,000 arrivals in the year ending March 2013 – a five per cent increase on 2012. It’s also one of Sydney’s most important source markets for business events. In the past year, Chinese corporate incentive events secured by Business Events Sydney represented over 50 per cent of its total economic impact secured for the corporate incentive market.
Business Events Sydney CEO Lyn Lewis-Smith commented on the growing Chinese market:
“As Chinese businesses increasingly look to hold events outside of China, Sydney is set to benefit thanks to its innovative team-building activities, superior venue capacity, climate and vast landscapes with abundant attractions.
“As a major international hub, Sydney is increasingly accessible to Chinese groups. We now receive 44 direct flights a day from Chinese cities, including Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Guangzhou,” said Ms Lewis-Smith.
“Sydney welcomes Chinese delegates to play, celebrate and engage with our local communities – building relationships that see them return to our city in years to come for business and leisure.”
