Outstanding Journalist And Photographers Honoured

Fairfax photographer Jacky Ghosseins and The Global Mail photojournalist Mike Bowers took out honours in two photographic categories sponsored by Destination NSW at the inaugural Kennedy Awards for Excellence in NSW Journalism.

Held on 10 August at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel, the awards honour the late journalist Les Kennedy, and industry colleagues who passed away a year ago. The Kennedy Awards has also formed a partnership with the Charlie Perkins Trust, to fund sponsorships for high-achieving indigenous students.

Jacky Ghosseins won the award for ‘Outstanding News Photo’ of the year and Mike Bowers won the award for 'Outstanding Online Photographic Essay'.

The winners will enjoy trips to two of the most picturesque destinations in NSW – Lord Howe Island and Mungo National Park – courtesy of Destination NSW.

The winners were congratulated for their outstanding contribution to journalistic excellence.

Fairfax investigative reporter Kate McClymont was awarded NSW Journalist of the Year.

Young Journalist of the Year went to The Sunday Telegraph’s Rosie Squires, who won two tickets to the opening night of stage show Legally Blonde along with a weekend stay at The Darling, provided by Destination NSW and The Star.
