Why Perth Was Chosen as Host City

Following a highly competitive international bidding process, Perth was selected over Denver in the United States, with the final decision announced in Valencia, Spain. The successful bid was led by Pride WA and supported by the Cook Government through Tourism WA, reflecting a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity and major event attraction.

Perth’s world-class sporting infrastructure, compact and accessible city layout, warm March climate and welcoming community were key factors in securing the Games. Previous host cities have included Paris, Hong Kong and Guadalajara, placing Perth in prestigious global company.

A Major Boost for Tourism and the Local Economy

The Gay Games XIII is expected to generate millions of dollars in visitor spending across accommodation, hospitality, transport and local businesses. As a mass participation event, it brings extended stays and repeat visitation, aligning with the Western Australian Government’s strategy to diversify the State economy and strengthen tourism as a key growth sector.

Hosting the Games will also enhance Perth’s reputation as a progressive, culturally rich and globally connected destination, offering a compelling reason for international travellers to plan a future visit.
