Sea & Stars After Dark: Chiang Mai Zoo Unveils a Magical Nighttime Aquarium Experience

Chiang Mai Zoo Night Aquarium: Sea & Stars
Thailand continues to innovate its tourism offerings with the launch of a limited-time nighttime aquarium experience at Chiang Mai Zoo. Designed to captivate couples, families, and night-time explorers, this immersive event blends underwater exhibits, artistic light installations, and festive evening activities, positioning Chiang Mai as a must-visit destination during the holiday season.

A New Night Attraction in Northern Thailand

Chiang Mai Zoo has officially introduced the Chiang Mai Zoo Night Aquarium: Sea & Stars, a special evening experience running from now until 2 January. Created in collaboration with EventTech.ai, the event is themed “Fall In Love With The Sea Wrapped In The Charm Of The Stars” and reimagines the zoo’s aquarium and garden spaces as a dreamlike nighttime attraction.

Unlike traditional daytime visits, this limited-time experience invites visitors to explore the aquarium after dark, where lighting, sound, and digital art transform familiar spaces into a magical nocturnal world. The concept reflects Thailand’s growing focus on experiential tourism that encourages longer stays and repeat visits.

Immersive Zones Inspired by Ocean and Sky

The nighttime aquarium experience is divided into three signature zones, each offering a distinct atmosphere and visual story.

The Ocean Mapping zone uses large-scale projection mapping to animate the aquarium walls, creating the sensation of walking through the depths of the sea. Moving marine visuals and light effects bring aquatic life to life in a dramatic and engaging way.

The Glowing Jelly Dome is a standout highlight, featuring luminous jellyfish drifting through a softly lit dome. This surreal installation has quickly become a favourite for photography lovers and social media creators seeking unique night-time visuals.

In contrast, the Garden Star Picnic zone offers a calmer, romantic setting. Set within the zoo’s garden areas, it combines warm lighting with a starlit ambiance, making it ideal for relaxed evenings with family, friends, or couples.

Festive Travel Appeal for Chiang Mai

The launch of the nighttime aquarium strengthens Chiang Mai’s appeal as a festive season destination. Known for its cultural heritage, mountain scenery, and relaxed pace, the city now adds a fresh evening attraction that complements its night markets, cafes, and seasonal events.

By extending visiting hours and offering a new way to experience the zoo, Chiang Mai Zoo is supporting Thailand’s broader tourism strategy to diversify attractions and boost night-time economies.

Early bird tickets are priced at 350 baht for Thai visitors and 750 baht for foreign visitors. With its blend of marine wonder, artistic lighting, and festive atmosphere, the Chiang Mai Zoo Night Aquarium offers a memorable evening experience that adds a fresh dimension to travel in northern Thailand.
