| The Purple Line (D Line) Extension |
The Purple Line (D Line) Extension is set to redefine how residents and visitors move across Los Angeles. Designed to provide a fast and efficient alternative to congested roads, the project connects downtown Los Angeles with Westwood, including two key stops in Beverly Hills: Wilshire/La Cienega Station and Wilshire/Rodeo Station. Once complete, the journey from downtown to Westwood will take approximately 25 minutes, offering a convenient option for commuters, tourists, and city explorers alike.
This transformative project is being built in three sections, with two segments running through the heart of Beverly Hills. The expansion represents a major investment in urban mobility, improving access to iconic shopping, cultural attractions, and business districts along Wilshire Boulevard.
Construction Phases and Key Stations
The first phase of the Purple Line Extension stretches from Wilshire/Western in Los Angeles to the Wilshire/La Cienega Station. This segment is currently under construction, with an anticipated opening in the first quarter of 2026.The second phase will extend the subway from Wilshire/La Cienega to Century City, featuring the Beverly Dr Station (also known as Wilshire/Rodeo Station). This portion of the project is expected to be operational by Spring 2027. Together, these new stops will provide improved connectivity to some of Los Angeles’ most popular destinations, making Beverly Hills even more accessible for both visitors and locals.
