Since opening with a screening of Pulp Fiction in 1995, Moonlight Cinema has become a cherished part of the Australian summer. From first dates to proposals, celebrity attendees like Margot Robbie and
Chris Hemsworth to pampered pooches (with their own treats and dog beds), Moonlight Cinema is an experience unlike any other. More than 5 million people have attended in the three decades since gates opened, with Love Actually, Dirty Dancing and 10 Things I Hate About You drawing the biggest crowds .
As part of Moonlight Cinema’s 30th birthday celebrations, audiences are invited to vote for their nostalgic film favourites, to determine which will return to the big screen. The top-voted titles in each city will be screened from January through to March, as part of The People’s Program, turning this summer’s season into a shared celebration of three decades of movie magic under the stars.
Everyone who votes will receive a 30% discount on General Admission tickets to The People’s Program sessions, plus entry into the draw to win a Double Season Pass and other prizes. Voting is open now at .com.au with a curated list of classics, sing-alongs, and cult favourites including Shrek,
Dirty Dancing, The Castle and Jurassic Park up for the running.“For three decades, Moonlight Cinema has been a quintessential summer ritual for millions of Australians,” says John Boero, General Manager of Entertainment Operations, EVT.
“To mark this milestone, we wanted to do something special for the audiences who’ve made us part of their summer traditions. The People’s Program gives fans the chance to help shape the season and enjoy their most- loved films - under the stars, where Moonlight magic happens.”
