Guangxi Showcased Tourism and AI Development Strategies to ASEAN Media

A Week of Cultural and Technological Exchange

In late August 2025, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China hosted a media delegation from six ASEAN countries to highlight its forward-looking strategies in tourism and artificial intelligence. The program, titled “Guangxi in the Eyes of International Media: Sharing New Opportunities, Advancing Together into the Future”, was launched by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi in collaboration with China News Service (CNS).

From August 24 to 30, journalists and influencers representing 27 news agencies from Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore embarked on a week-long journey to discover Guangxi’s natural beauty, sustainable tourism projects, and technological innovations.

Exploring Guangxi’s Key Cities

The delegation visited three important destinations—Chongzuo, Nanning, and Liuzhou. Each city showcased Guangxi’s dual commitment to preserving cultural heritage and embracing cutting-edge innovation.

In Chongzuo, media representatives experienced eco-tourism projects designed to protect the environment while providing unique travel experiences. In Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, the delegation observed initiatives that integrated AI into manufacturing and city planning. Liuzhou, known for its automotive industry and green development strategies, highlighted how AI-driven solutions were reshaping local industries.

Tourism and AI Development at the Forefront

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Li Pan, Director of the Information Office of the People’s Government of Guangxi, emphasized the region’s natural beauty and economic potential. He explained that Guangxi’s tourism resources, combined with advanced AI applications, positioned the province as both a cultural destination and a hub for innovation.

The program also included in-depth discussions on the role of AI in the media sector, offering participants the chance to explore how technology was transforming storytelling, journalism, and international communication.

Guangxi’s Role as a Gateway to ASEAN

Guangxi remained unique among China’s provinces as the only region with both land and sea borders to ASEAN nations. This geographical advantage enabled it to become a strategic hub for cross-border collaboration. Leveraging its location, rich natural resources, and commitment to development, Guangxi built an AI industrial ecosystem designed to deepen cooperation with ASEAN countries.

The initiative not only strengthened cultural ties but also reinforced Guangxi’s ambition to become a leading destination for eco-tourism, technological growth, and regional cooperation. For the ASEAN delegation, the visit offered firsthand insight into how Guangxi balanced its traditions with forward-looking development strategies.
