Adelaide’s best restaurants? We’ve got a taste for that

Restaurant Botanic
Every chef blazing a trail of culinary excellence in this city would agree on one thing. There is a secret to this place — it’s what makes our vines that much juicier, our produce that bit sweeter. Pace. We take our time harvesting ingredients, combining them with intention to serve you a taste of alchemy. It's where South Australia's simplest pleasures hit their stride — and restaurants here serve them up. Plate after plate. Here's a taste of Adelaide's best restaurants for 2025.

For a curious palate

RESTAURANT BOTANIC

Curiosity is welcome at Restaurant Botanic — in fact, it’s essential. Here, the degustation is shaped by the 51-hectare garden that surrounds it, with native ingredients foraged steps from the kitchen. Each dish tells a story of South Australian land and season, brought to life by a team who treat their work like craft.

AFRICOLA

Africola
Walking into Africola is like stepping into direct sunlight — a burst of bright colours and bold patterns. But it’s owner and head chef Duncan Welgemoed who really wields the energy. His South African heritage, story and taste are seared into every corner of the busy restaurant — reflective, fiery, spicy and loud. It makes it a great place for late nights and loud laughter.

For those who like a front row seat

SHŌBŌSHO

Shōbōsho means ‘fire house’ in Japanese — and you’ll feel it from your front row seat. Flames flicker from the open kitchen, where chefs work the yakitori grill in full view. The long communal table is a tangle of limbs, with scallop sashimi and potsticker dumplings passed between friends. Here, fire feeds more than just the food.

FUGAZZI

Fugazzi
Ever had a meal you can’t stop fantasising about? One that lingers in your mind long after the table’s cleared. You’ll find your fantasy at Fugazzi on Leigh Street. Handmade pasta hits the table still steaming, and tiramisu is served tableside. These are life's simple pleasures, all dressed up.
