| Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 |
Thailand is preparing for a monumental year as the Cabinet officially approves the cooperation framework for the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025. This campaign, spearheaded by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, aims to transform Thailand into a top-tier global destination for both leisure and sports travel.
The green light from the Cabinet on 6 May 2025 signifies a strong national commitment to integrated tourism development. The campaign brings together ministries, private stakeholders, and international partners across 11 key strategic areas — from aviation and accommodation to festivals, transport, and digital services — ensuring a seamless and memorable experience for every visitor.
Aviation Leads the Push for Seamless Travel
Air access plays a vital role in delivering Thailand’s tourism goals. With support from the Ministries of Transport, Finance, and Tourism and Sports, the campaign will introduce incentives to reduce airline operational costs and encourage additional routes, especially to secondary cities. Underutilised airport slots will be activated, and advanced data systems will enhance efficiency and service quality. These efforts will ensure better regional distribution of tourism traffic and improve access to emerging destinations.
Boosting Local Businesses and Experiences
Thailand’s accommodation and food services will receive significant attention, with a focus on uplifting smaller operators through visibility on travel platforms and national certification programs such as Thai Homestay and Home Lodge. Parallel efforts in the retail sector will offer tourists enhanced shopping experiences through exclusive deals, cashless payment systems, and easy VAT refund options in multiple currencies.
Smart Travel Through Digital and Transport Innovation
Promotions via online travel agencies will feature curated packages to both iconic and off-the-beaten-path locations. Improved public transport will support this by connecting cities and regions more efficiently. Key initiatives like the “Amazing Pass 1-Day Bangkok” aim to enhance urban mobility and convenience for both tourists and locals.
Welcoming the World with Safety and Simplicity
Ensuring tourist safety and ease of travel is a cornerstone of the campaign. The nationwide rollout of Tourist Assistance Centres, round-the-clock support via the 1155 Call Centre, and deployment of multilingual interpreters reflect a comprehensive visitor-first approach. Enhanced visa policies — including new long-stay and business options — will further reduce barriers to entry.
Cultural Celebrations and Sporting Spectacles
A robust calendar of events, from the Maha Songkran World Water Festival to the “7 Months 7 Wonders” series, will showcase Thailand’s rich heritage and contemporary creativity. Major sporting events, including the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship, MotoGP, and SEA Games, will draw global attention and fans.
By encouraging investment in venues and cultural infrastructure, Thailand aims to become not just a place to visit, but a stage for unforgettable experiences.
Promoting Thailand’s Story to the World
The campaign also emphasizes powerful storytelling across traditional and digital media. From immersive PR campaigns to strategic global showcases like ITB Berlin and the Arabian Travel Market, Thailand is positioning itself at the intersection of tradition, innovation, and global appeal.
Thailand’s Vision for Sustainable Growth
Projected to attract over 39 million international visitors and generate 3.4 trillion Baht in tourism revenue, the campaign is not only about numbers. It seeks to reshape the country’s tourism landscape into one that is sustainable, inclusive, and culturally rich.
From comprehensive guide training in eight key languages to initiatives like the Tourism SIM card program, Thailand is preparing at every level to welcome the world with warmth, efficiency, and inspiration.
